BBI handles fit out for multinational design consultancy
Brecon-based Beacons Business Interiors (Bbi) has handled the 10,000 sq ft office fit out for multinational engineering and design consultancy, Atkins, at its UK northern office in Leeds.
Atkins is one of the world's leading providers of professional, technology-based consultancy and support services and has appointed the Leeds-based arm of Bbi to manage its £220,000 fit out.
The contract involved the complete re-design of the figurehead building at Thorpe Park Business Park in Leeds, including the implementation of a new mechanical and electrical system (M&E) for the ground floor and rebalancing on the first floor. The new fit out will enable 200 staff to work out of the Leeds office, an additional 33 than before the refurbishment. The original space has been converted into an open plan office space with free-standing workstations to enable optimum space and flexibility. The end result is a modern space featuring a white and silver colour scheme with the prospect of adding additional feature colours to reflect the company’s re-branding.
Peter Burchill, director of the Bbi Leeds office, said:
“We have done a lot of work for Atkins in the past and it is great that we have been asked to continue our relationship with this latest project. It is a great achievement to be asked to continue to supply fit out services to one of the world’s leading engineering and design consultancies, a company which obviously has an idea of what good design is. With this particular project, we worked very closely with the style of the building, which is very contemporary. Atkins is based in the figurehead building, 3100, at Thorpe Park Business Park, and we felt it was important to tie in the interior features with the exterior of the building. The interior is now not only a workable office environment but also complements the contemporary style of the building.”
Owing to the relationship that Bbi has with Atkins, the Leeds team has also just completed a mini project for the business at the same development. Bbi was asked to handle a refurbishment on Atkins’ 3200 building at Thorpe Park Business Park in time for a meeting of senior Home Office officials.
