PJE takes the old and turns it into the newGloucester-based PJE Business Solutions (PJE), part of the Bbi Group, has completed a £62,000 project converting a mill in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. The complete fit-out contract, carried out for Esko Stone Cube, involved creating a modern, working office within the confines of a listed building, incorporating essential working equipment while being sensitive to the original features. The project was completed in four weeks despite the challenges posed by a listed building and has expanded the potential occupancy of the building from 18 to 25 staff. As part of the fit out, PJE installed air-conditioning, carpets, desks and partitioning as well as creating conferencing, meeting and break-out areas. As well as co-coordinating and installing the fit out, PJE also worked with Esko Stone Cube on creating a 3D rendered plan of what the office would look like. This process enabled the client to visualise the final outcome, allowing for any amends to be made before any work was carried out on the building. Adrian Bateman, managing director of PJE Business Solutions, said: "What would normally have been a straightforward fit-out was made fairly complex by the constraints of a listed building. The team responsible for the project managed to respect and effectively incorporate the original features while at the same time creating a modern open plan office environment all within four weeks." PJE had to overcome many challenges during the project, which is to be expected when working with an old structure. Lighting layouts and smoke detection units had to be fitted around deep set natural beams and glass partitioning had to be installed using far from straight floors and ceilings. |
