New London office will help firm respond to increased demand in the cityFacilities support specialist, Beacons Business Interiors (Bbi), has responded to continued growth in its client base by opening a new London office for itself and its subsidiary, PJE, with an investment worth over a quarter of a million pounds. The office is located in the landmark London Underwriting Centre at Three Minster Court, Mincing Lane and adds to the Bbi Group's growing network across the UK, which includes operations in Brecon, Leeds and Gloucester. |

Welsh businesses urged to prepare for the 'Y Factor'Brecon-based facilities support specialist, Beacons Business Interiors (Bbi), is advising businesses in Wales to ensure their office space is able to accommodate the Y Factor - that is the current influx and growing influence of 'Generation Y' workers. The advice comes on the back of research from Bbi's office supply partner, Steelcase, which reveals that, as Generation Y workers begin to replace the retiring 'Traditionalist' and 'Baby Boomer' generations in the workplace, they are bringing with them a shift in attitudes and behaviours. |

PJE carried out the work at PKF’s offices in Cardiff, Bristol, and Edinburgh as well as installing a complete air conditioning system at the Guilford branch. |

Food, face-painting and family fun at the Bbi BarbieMore than 70 of Bbi’s friends and family came along to our barbecue at the Brecon office on Friday 17 June. Head chefs, Andy and Clare Graham, cooked lots of delicious food for their guests as well as organising a range of entertainment, including a bouncy castle, face-painting, bungee run, a surf simulator and even a rodeo bull! |

A day out on the green at Bbi golf dayOn Wednesday 8 June, more than 40 of Bbi’s clients and partners attended our annual golf day at Cradoc Golf Club, overlooking the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park. The sun came out (followed by the rain!) as the golfers tested themselves on the 18-hole course. Overall winner Clive Lee, from Arup Ltd, scooped the top prize, an Orangebox Mesh Operators chair, while a range of other prizes were handed out to winners of the longest drive, nearest pin and the range fun competition. |

Bbi board members pass IOSH exam with flying coloursBeacons Business Interiors (Bbi), the facilities support specialist, has announced that its entire board of directors have successfully completed the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) ‘Safety for Senior Executives’ course. Six candidates successfully took part in the course, delivered by Santia, which aims to equip senior executives with an in-depth understanding of the role of health and safety in the construction industry. |

New legislation means UK businesses risk being left out in the coldBusinesses in the UK are at risk from being left out in the cold with £300 fines when existing EU legislation regarding air conditioning standards takes effect on 4 January 2011. Beacons Business Interiors (Bbi) is warning that the cost to UK business could be up to millions of pounds if businesses do not properly prepare for the legislation change, which will see Air Conditioning Inspection Reports become mandatory for all businesses across the UK. |

From Zimbabwe to Brecon: Bbi celebrates 21st anniversaryBeacons Business Interiors (Bbi) is celebrating 21 years in business this month as the company continues to trade successfully despite the economic downturn. Founder and executive chairman, Andy Graham, established Bbi in 1989 after abandoning life as a tobacco farmer in Zimbabwe to move to Wales with just £300 in his pocket. Since setting up the business in the Welsh market town of Brecon, the company has flourished and now has three offices across the UK, employing 57 staff with a turnover of £16m. |

Bbi was appointed to work on the £3 million fit-out as part of Sterlin's £12 million expansion plan, which involved moving its manufacturing plant from Aberbargoed to the Pen-y-Fan Industrial Estate in Oakdale, near Blackwood, in one of Wales's largest commercial property deals of the year. |
