Computershare Services plc are the world’s largest and only global share registry and transfer agency. They also provide a variety of financial services such as investor relations, market intelligence and cutting-edge technology to the international securities industry.
Their new 15,000 sq ft office suite located at Vintners Place is an impressive building on an historic site in the City of London, overlooking the Thames at Southwark Bridge.
Bbi's brief - to create an open-plan office environment with breakout areas, reception space and conference facilities - stimulated a concept that combined creativity and passion and importantly, left the client "bowled over".
Codenamed 'Project ISIS', the million pound refurbishment involved a total 'strip out' of the existing, dated office décor and partition systems. The new open plan areas and meeting rooms, which overlook the impressive internal atrium, were to have a look that was fresh and modern - nothing ostentatious - and an upgrade of all data, mechanical and electrical systems was to be designed into the scheme.
The existing office was removed completely back to shell. Our approach produced an airy, open plan space that improved traffic flow and lifted staff morale. Rich burgundy and pale sea green corporate colours were applied to floors, walls and pillars throughout, unifying the design from reception to open plan, and visitor to breakout areas.
A brand new desking system, the 'Partners' range from Irish manufacturers Farrell, was specified in beech veneer with silver legs and screen frames. The strength of the system lies in its sophisticated simplicity.
The comprehensive wire management in the new furniture supports all the power and CAT 6 data installations. Chris Llewellin, Senior Facilities Manager for Computershare, travelled over to Ireland during the early stages of the project to advise on modifications to the final product design. Storage systems match the furniture and, specified not more than 60 inches in height, help to maintain the open plan feel.
The boardroom and conference facilities, which overlook the Thames, are finished in a complimentary colour scheme. An impressive media wall in beech veneer, boasts a 1500mm screen with multi-media rear projector and 'printable' white boards. All elements are controlled, together with the lighting and audio system, from a wireless remote control.
Lighting controls and luminaires were to meet the latest CIBSE LG3 guidelines. A Thorlux lighting system cleverly provided a soft radiance whilst maintaining a 500 Lux level across all areas. Additional architectural lighting highlighted perimeter and breakout areas.
M&E design was completed in-house, through our sister company PJ Engineering Consultants, and the mechanical fit-out comprised new air conditioning and modifications to the existing landlord's provision.
