Office for National Statistics, TitchfieldThe Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the government department that provides UK statistical and registration services. ONS is responsible for producing a wide range of key economic and social statistics, which are used by policy makers across government to create evidence-based policies and monitor performance against them. The Office also builds and maintains data sources both for itself and for its business and research customers. It makes statistics available so that everyone can easily assess the state of the nation, the performance of government and their own position. They have four main sites across the UK, one of which is located in Titchfield.
Titchfield Gymnasium Facility We won a competitive tender to carry out renovation works to an existing changing facility. However, early on in the project due to budget constraints, the funds available were halved. Bbi were therefore asked to redesign the scheme to meet the reduced figure. Through innovative design and value engineering we were able to meet this new, tight budget and still provide a quality environment within the spirit of the original scheme. 12-week project
Style Guide As with all ONS projects, the specification was developed in line with the organisational 'Style Guide' which Bbi compiled in association with Interserve. The project involved building an extension within an existing courtyard, which would accommodate the new changing facility. Although the budget had been drastically reduced, we still managed to maintain the high standards we had previously achieved on site in line with the 'Style Guide'. Mechanical & Electrical The revised brief was to provide a changing facility that could handle the high volume of use that the gymnasium generated. It involved a completely new extension, with independent roof, foundations, heating, lighting and water supply. This was seamlessly linked back into the existing structure and drainage facility, providing the ONS with an enhanced changing facility, which the members loved.
It went fantastically well, the Chief Executive was extremely impressed with what we'd achieved with such a small budget and such a tight timescale. Mike Richards, Account Manager
