Mechanical & Electrical
The addition of in-house expertise in Mechanical and Electrical design and project management now provides broader facilities support services to our clients. Over the past few years it has also become apparent that our clients increasingly require professional services independent of Bbis design and build capability. To address this need, the group now provides a range of extended services through our subsidiary company, PJE Business Solutions. Our dedicated teams can assist from feasibility stage, through detailed design, tender and implementation to ongoing support with the management of maintenance. With our in-house design engineers having a broad knowledge of building services and related engineering systems and utilising state-of-the-art design programs we are able to supply a wide variety of detailed and co-ordinated designs integrating such facilities as:
We produce schematic diagrams to give specific details of the integral building systems to help our clients supply drawings for tender, construction and maintenance.
This range of extended services now includes:
The aim is to provide a value engineered solution whilst complying with clients specified operating requirements in an increasingly regulated environment.
Energy Surveys and Consultancy
These can be stand alone or more usually incorporated with one or more of the other services on offer. Mechanical and Electrical design considerations will take into account compliance with the Building Regulations, Part L. Energy efficiency, monitoring and environmental awareness issues are also all taken into account. Mechanical and Electrical Project Co-ordination and Management
The systems under consideration are often complex and the successful implementation of a design depends on ensuring that the services are coordinated between themselves and with the building structure. Errors in co-ordination of services can cause project delays and generally result in additional cost claims from related contractors. Specialist project management and co-ordination can ensure that the project completes on time and within budget. Having in-house designers or specialist coordinators at hand to assist with this process and ensure that the systems are commissioned and tested correctly invariably produces a quality solution with minimal issues following occupation. Quantity Surveying
Often combined with Contract Administration, Bbis quantity surveying capability can be restricted to the various Mechanical and Electrical specialities or include the entire project. Maintenance and Maintenance Management
We will, either during the design stage, or for an existing site or estate, establish compliant maintenance routines for all building services. We will provide tender documentation, assist with contractor selection and evaluate tender returns. Our proposals will incorporate performance monitoring criteria to enable us to support our clients in the evaluation of the ongoing performance of the successful contractor or contractors. Building and Building Services Condition Surveys
We can assist with pre-acquisition surveys or feasibility studies of existing buildings where our service can be extended to include the building fabric and structure in addition to the services themselves. Feasibility studies can include estimated costs for remedial works in addition to potential costs associated with upgrade or change of use. Contract Administration
This is a stand-alone specialist role involving the administration of the construction contract. The Contract Administrator acts on behalf of the client, formulates and issues package contracts to the various contractors and administers these during the course of the works. There are an increasing number of standard forms of contract available, the details of each are significantly complicated. Having a specialist available to ensure that contracts are dealt with effectively and efficiently can allow clients to concentrate on the practical client issues associated with the projects implementation. An independent Contract Administrator can also provide the client with some legal flexibility.
