Dwr Cymru Welsh Water

Linea, St Mellons, Cardiff

Project value

£1.4 million | Eight months

The client

DwrCymruWelsh Water is the regulated company that provides water supply and sewerage services to over three million people living and working in Wales and some adjoining areas of England.

The design brief

To relocate DwrCymru Welsh Water to a new 75,000 sq ft facility as part of a modernisation programme designed to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Project delivery

This was a highly competitive tender and Bbi was chosen for its high-quality accreditation, health and safety record and considerable experience with similar projects.

It was required to handle all elements of the fit out of a new and secure call centre, including building work, minor construction, and mechanical and electrical installation. The fit out was logistically complex, requiring the use of specialist techniques and equipment.

In addition, Bbi managed the move of more than 700 staff from around 20 offices within a 50-mile radius. The moves were completed over a series of weekends to minimise disruption to the business.

Gary Burridge of Bbi said: “As well as ensuring that the project was completed to the satisfaction of the client, we also had to take into account the wellbeing of more than 700 employees that were moving to the site. We did everything possible to minimise disruption and at the end of the move there wasn’t a single complaint!”
